APPLICATION AND USE
Preparation PREVIOUSLY PAINTED SURFACES:
In Good Condition: Wash down with a suitable detergent, rinse with fresh water and allow to dry. Abrade with 280-320 grade (grit) paper.
In Poor Condition: Remove all previous coatings. Wash down with Yacht Line Super Cleaner, rinse with fresh water and allow to dry.
PRIMING: All preparation for bare substrates is covered on the appropriate primer datasheet.
BARE WOOD: Prime with Yacht Primer or UCP.
STEEL: Prime with Yacht Primer or Interprotect.
ALUMINIUM: Prime with Etch Primer followed by either Yacht Primer or Interprotect.
GRP: Abrade with 180-220 grade paper. Wash down with Yacht Line Super Cleaner, rinse with fresh water and allow to dry. No priming necessary.
AGED/WEATHERED GELCOATS: Due to the potentially porous nature of aged/weathered gelcoats the risk of solvent/moisture entrapment after painting is much higher than when gelcoat is new. As a result this entrapment could lead to blistering of the paint film. To reduce the risk of paint film blistering it is recommended that 3 coats of Interprotect are applied to seal the gelcoat. Interprotect must be overcoated with Perfection Undercoat prior to topcoat application.
ALL SUBSTRATES: Use Pre-Kote undercoat.

Method Sand the undercoat smooth with 320-400 grade (grit) wet or dry paper. Remove dust with a dust wipe. Apply 2-3 coats of Brightside following the proper dry times. Brightside may be applied by roller and brush using the roll and tip method.

Hints Mixing Stir well before use.
Thinner YTA085,YTA333 Brush - Thinner No. 333 Spray - Thinner No. 3
Thinning Thin if necessary with Thinner No. 333 (maximum 10% by volume) to improve brushing characteristics.
Cleaner YTA800,YTA333 Thinner No. 333 or Thinner No. 1
Ventilation and Humidity Control Apply in dry, well ventilated conditions. It is best to paint on warm, dry mornings. Cold weather retards the drying, and humidity or lack of air movement can spoil the gloss.
Airless Spray Pressure: 170 bar/2500 psi. Tip Size: 0.33-0.41 mm/13-16 thou.
Conventional Spray Pressure Pot: Pressure: 3.44-4.47 bar/50-65 psi (gun pressure); 8-10 psi (pot pressure). Tip Size: 0.89-1.4 mm/35-50 thou. Siphon Cup: Pressure: 3.44-4.47 bar/50-65 psi - gun pressure. Tip Size: 1.4-1.8mm/50-70 thou.
Other Spray pressures listed are recommendations only. The applicator may use any settings which yield the best results for the individual spraying technique and current weather conditions. Brightside is best applied in thin coats.

Some Important Points Do not apply heavy coats as this will affect dry through. Failure to follow proper dry times carefully will cause improper drying, wrinkling and loss of adhesion. If thinning is necessary, do not thin more than 10% by volume. Avoid painting in direct sunlight. Product temperature should be minimum 10°C/50°F and maximum 29°C/85°F. Ambient temperature should be minimum 5°C/40°F and maximum 35°C/95°F. Substrate temperature should be minimum 5°C/40°F and maximum 29°C/85°F.

Compatibility/Substrates Surface must be dry and clean, and free from grease, detaching paint etc. Use over suitably prepared and undercoated surfaces or existing paint schemes. Not suitable for permanently immersed surfaces.
